I still have a little etsy shop and for now I only have my baby ID bracelets listed.  I love making these little things!  Two shipped out to California this week. They are great little keepsakes for a special little one.

Toy Story

When I packed Buzz and Woody away years ago I didn't really think about when they'd make another appearance. But I'm happy to say Jack and Mallie have discovered the magic of Toy Story now Buzz and Woody live again! They both love them! Jack sleeps with Buzz, Woody, Jesse and Bullseye (who was a Christmas present) every night!  And Mallie can say "Buzz" even though she hardly ever say MaMa or Nan!  I just realized today that she calls all the figures "Buzz", even Woody. 

When I unpacked Buzz, he didn't work but after a change of batteries he decided to let us hear him, every now and then.  Seems his arm has to be in a certain position and his buttons have to be pushed numerous times!  But he works and that is really a miracle since he is almost 20 years old!

Woody had quit working even before he was boxed away and a change of batteries didn't seem to help him.  But another miracle occurred with him the other day.  I decided to punch around on his string with a screwdriver and all of the sudden...he talks!  Jack screamed and was so excited about that!

Jesse I purchased at a local "junk" store.  She was new but no box and she didn't talk either.  Jason changed her batteries and it didn't seem to help.  Jessie, (my Jessie) said one night they heard voices coming from Jack's room after bedtime and it was Jesse (the doll) talking!  And she is still talking.

So if you have old Toy Story dolls, don't give up if they have quit working, just keep trying new things to fix them!

 

Really this is all I did to get buzz working! I just slid the screwdriver under

his shirt, where the string is attached and he started talking, well

when his string is pulled of course, it's wonderful. I was more excited than the kiddo's!

 

Mallie decided to do a little "work" on Buzz herself!

Alphabet Bean Bags

Here's a list of a few things I should have been doing today:

 

Cleaning house
Finishing some projects
Laundry
Packing away Christmas items
Returning Christmas items
Visiting my Aunt in the nursing home
...there's a lot more I could add...

But instead, I looked at some fabric scraps and decided I needed to get rid of a few.  Really, yes.

Saw these on Pinterest (that darn Pinterest) and just had to make them...today!





Bean Bags for Jack and Mallie

  

 

 

 

  

I cut the squares 5in x 5 in 

Then I painted each letter using these stencils.

I used regular white wall paint and a small paintbrush, worked great.

 

 

 

 

Then we added beans and some of them got filled with rice,

I think the rice was better but much harder to sew up as the rice kept falling out!

 

 

 

 

Here's a recap of how I did it. 

Cut 26 fabric scraps in 5 x 5 squares.  Then sew up three of the sides.  I chose to sew on the outside because I wanted a ragged, fringed edge.  But you could always sew with right sides together and have a neater look.  Then I threw them in the washer to make them softer and get the edging to ravel. I ironed them flat and next I used the stencils and white wall paint.  Just put in on with a small paint brush. I ended up liking the paint rather thick, otherwise the letters weren't showing up very good. Then we added beans to the open end before sewing it up!  There are some great tutorials on Pinterest like here.

Tanner and Mallie

Tanner is the best uncle in the world! He loves his niece and nephew so much! Jessie snapped this pic a couple of months ago and as you can see, they feel the same about him.  It's such a joy to watch all three of them together. Love lives here. 

A Little Valentine Craft

It was a cold windy day in Tennessee so we decided to make a little Valentine craft.  Jack and Mallie love using glue and Jack loves to push the buttons on the silhouette machine! 


We cut some arrows and hearts

 

I think Mallie had more glue on her mouth than anywhere else!

 

 

 

 

Such a fun craft to do! I just sew it all together in one long

straight line and then hang it anywhere!

Jack was so excited, he couldn't wait to show Mom and Dad!

 



Fur Vest

Jessie wanted a fur vest so I tried making one the other day.  I will post better pics later!

This one is Mallie's.  Thought it would be cute to have
Mother-daughter vests!  Trying to post from my iPhone :)

Tanner took this pic, excuse me being in it!  I take TERRIBLE
photos.  I'll make sure to get a cute one of Jess and maybe add
the instructions as well...it was "sew" easy!

 

New Years Day 2014

Have not posted anything in f o r e v e r !
New computer, new silhouette cutting machine, new phone...all these gadgets are keeping me busy and I don't know how to use any of them correctly!

Recycled Oatmeal Box

Jessie saw one of these on Pinterest and had it on her "wish list" for Mallie.

Well I finally got around to making it. Turned out really cute!

Items needed:

Large empty oatmeal box with lid

Old candle stick, use something heavy

Two pieces of scrapbook paper

Glue

Spray Paint

Small wooden knob

I had all these things on hand, except the paper. I chose a vertical pattern because I thought her headbands would look better on it.   You can lift the lid and store hair bows or other treasures inside!

Paint an old candle stand.  I used  a new color, minty green,
I think the name was aqua mist.  This candlestick is heavy, which is good.

I had some old spray glue, so that is what I used, and
two pieces of scrapbook paper.  I placed the paper evenly
around the bottom and just turned down the paper at the top.

I hot glued the bottom of the oatmeal box to the top of the
candle holder. 

I chose vertical stripes and you don't even notice
the seams in the paper.

I also spray painted the lid of the oatmeal box and glued
an old wooden knob to the top to make a handle.

Scrapbook Paper Garland

I love the look of paper garland :)

So I haven't posted in a long long time, but I have been working on several projects. Mallie's first birthday is September 22 and I'm really having fun making her some charming little decorations for the party. Which by the way is at my house :)

I love garland, and its fun to make.


Here's what I used but you could change it up any way you want.

18 sheets of 12x12 scrapbook paper (1/2 price at Hobby Lobby =  only $5.00)
Paper punch ( I only have one, but I love it and have used it alot)
Sewing machine (You could hand sew or attach with yarn etc)

My punch can cut 25 shapes from one 12x12 sheet. I like to use the solid colors so it the same on both sides. That equals to 450 disc flower shapes for the 18 sheets I had.  After sewing them (leaving appox 1 inch or so between each shape) I ended up with about 90 feet of garland.

Now that's a good deal. 90 feet of garland for 5 dollars, plus a little time.  I LOVE making this garland.  Change up you color scheme for holidays and you can use this anytime of the year!

Here are a few pics. Not sure how we are going to use it at the party, but it will look cute I'm sure!

I ended up with about 450 flower punch outs!

Lots of punching. Took about an hour or so

Just sew the paper as if it were fabric. I sew it down the middle
about an inch apart. But you could put them as close as you like.

This is part of my finished garland. And yes some of  it tangled and
I had to cut it apart. No problem. It's easier to work with about 10 feet
at a time anyway. You can always tape or sew them together later when you hang them.

90 feet of garland. What are we going to do with it??

I will pack it away until the party. Just fold up and put in a safe place.
It will do fine, just be careful when getting it out again :)

Front Pleat Dress

Thought I'd post a pic of the second dress I have made for Mallie. It is a size 6 months but seems to run a little big. Looks easy, but this pattern was a little more difficult. But, it turned out very cute!

I am going to add a third ruffle to the top of the bloomers. You know, the more ruffles the better these days! Happy sewing to you too!

This is the back of the dress. I don't like to make button holes or put in zippers,
so leave a split and add a ribbon!

I love mixing patterns! I think this turned out SEW CUTE!
Going to add another ruffle at the top of the bloomers. 

Those buttons are felt! I found them at Walmart.
The applique pattern design came with the pattern. I changed the
flower and just made a rosette (and pinned it on).

I wanted to make the hat...maybe later.
